justify;\">De mandarijneend (Aix galericulata) is een soort Aziatische eend en behoort tot de eendenfamilie. De mannetjes van deze soort hebben een opvallend, kleurrijk verenkleed bestaande uit een paarse borstband, een witte buik, blauwe vleugelvlekken en een groene kop met een oranje snavel. De vrouwtjes zijn daarentegen bruin van kleur en hebben een witte oogring.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Mandarijneenden zijn wijdverspreid in Azi\u00eb en leven voornamelijk in bossen en rivieren. Ze voeden zich met planten, insecten en kleinere dieren. De soort wordt niet als bedreigd beschouwd en wordt vaak in parken en tuinen gehouden.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Mandarijneenden werden voor het eerst in de 18e eeuw in Europa ge\u00efntroduceerd en zijn nu ook hier inheems geworden.
